Stored Craft Information

Terms of Agreement

From date of agreement until removal of boat from Club premises.

  1. The Storage agreement commences from the date of the agreement until the end of the current club financial year 30 April.
  2. The agreement is renewed by the Club on an annual basis when the Club offers members storage for the following year.
  3. The Club may terminate the storage agreement by not offering to renew a storage agreement at the commencement of the Club’s Financial Year, or if the associated club membership is terminated prior to the end of the Club’s financial year.
  4. Members may terminate the agreement by permanent removal of the craft from the club premises.
  5. Storage agreements are only available to current Ordinary, Associate, Paddler and Student members of the Club over the age of 18 years.
  6. The Club agrees to allow the members to store the craft and fittings on the club premises upon payment of the annual storage fee.
  7. The storage fee is payable at the beginning of the Club’s financial year, that is, on 1 May each year or at the time the craft is first stored at the club. The storage fee is not refundable and not transferable if the craft is sold or removed from the Club premises before the end of the financial year unless such a refund or transfer is approved by Club Management.
  8. Storage is provided for the craft specified in the storage agreement. Members may not substitute craft or add additional craft without approval from Club management.
  9. The Club storage is provided to support active Club Members. It is not a storage facility for Members who have nowhere else to store vessels or run a commercial operation.
  10. The Board requires the Club Office to review all storage agreements and terminate the storage agreement and remove the craft from the Club premises if management believes that the craft has not been used regularly or is not in the interest of the Club to remain. Regular use is determined to be at least 12 departures from the Club ramp in the previous 12-month period or raced at least two race days between the start of the Spring/Summer series and 31 December. Interest in the club means participating in club activities. In case of any dispute the responsibility falls on the Member to prove use of the vessel. Where a storage agreement is terminated and the craft remains on club premises, the craft becomes unauthorised and is subject to additional charges. See WSC Membership and Storage fees. The annual fees are set from time to time by the Board and displayed on the Club website.
  11. The Club is not liable for any loss or damage to the craft or fittings stored at the Club or elsewhere. We strongly recommend you keep your craft insured during the period of the storage agreement.
  12. If the storage fee is unpaid for more than 2 months, then the Club is authorized to sell or otherwise dispose of the craft and fittings and deduct from the proceeds any amount owing to the Club for storage fees and any costs associated with removal, storage and sale of the craft and fittings.
  13. Road trailers may NOT be left at the Club. Any trailers or dollies left on club premises and not in the allocated space will be removed and left outside the Club premises and the Club will not be liable for any loss or damage as a result.
  14. Club management may move craft from one storage location to another to support club activity.
  15. The members should mark craft and fittings on the Club premises to allow for easy identification.
  16. Members should advise the Club office if other people (only WSC members) are authorised to use the craft or fittings.
  17. The terms of the agreement may be altered from time to time by the Club management.

By-Laws: Yard and Ramp Etiquette

This document contains By-Laws adopted by the Board of Woollahra Sailing Club to have effect on and from the 24 February 2020.

1. Preliminary
  • Words and headings in these “By-Laws” have the same meaning as words and headings of the Constitution of Woollahra Sailing Club Ltd.
  • Club or Company means Woollahra Sailing Club Ltd (WSC).
  • Constitution of WSC means the Rules, “By-Laws” and any other document forming the Articles of Association of the Club.

2. General considerations
The Club is often very busy. There is a lot on which is great for everyone. However, it means we all have to be aware of our environment and considerate of others. This By-Law should be read in conjunction with the “By-Laws: Membership, Rights & Obligations. To that end failure to observe the provisions of this By-Law can be considered to be a breach of the “By-Laws: Membership, Rights & Obligations”

3. Yard and Rigging
  • Be safety conscious. There are many things to consider. Unattended boats can capsize in the rigging area. Booms can swing with wind change. Pedestrians and young children are unaware of the dangers by very careful when crossing the footpath.
  • Be aware of others. There are always other people moving around the yard, rigging boats etc. Please pay attention to your environment, observe others, help if possible and don’t hinder.
  • Rigging. We have very little rigging space inside the yard. If possible, rig up outside. Pacers always rig up in their storage spot or outside, not on the artificial turf. If you are rigging up inside be aware of others. Don’t take up anymore space than you need. Larger boats (420s, 29ers, 49ers, Tasars, Pacers, etc) to rig outside the yard or in their mast up spot.
  • Do not stop, park, or rig boats on any pathways – inside the yard or outside. This quickly becomes a problem for others.
  • Do not queue across the pedestrian footpath outside the Club or at the hoses. Hose down boats and move on quickly.
  • Before going out store covers, spare equipment, bags etc back in your storage space. Leaving them in the rigging area may result in damage or theft.
  • Boats and all other equipment are to be stored in the allocated storage space. The boat or equipment should not be left outside of this allocation.
  • Be helpful. Assist where you can to help others get their boats in and out of the storage, and in rigging their boats.
  • Be mindful of your boat being left unattended. If it is rigged, it may blow over. If it is unrigged but you are working on it, please move it to one side so that others are free to rig.
  • Changing conditions. When you arrive at the club and start rigging there might be very few people around, however, that can change very quickly. To be safe always assume the Club is about to become very busy. This is particularly relevant for all of the points above.
  • Cars are not allowed in the yard at any time. Trailers are ok but leave cars outside the yard.

4. On the Ramp
  • Be safety conscious. Be aware of other boats leaving and returning.
  • Do not queue across the pedestrian footpath outside the Club.
  • Use the ramp for launch and retrieval only. Not for parking. Not for rigging.
  • DO NOT LEAVE DOLLIES ON THE RAMP. One person leaves a dolly on the ramp then next person follows that example and the next and pretty quickly the ramp is unusable. Store dollies on the grass or on the brick pavers behind the winch. Stack the dollies to minimise the space they consume. Place them out of the way.
