Frequently Asked Questions
How does the membership billing cycle work? Can I pay for a partial year?
Woollahra Sailing Club memberships and boat storage are billed annually, with the season running from May 1 to April 30. While the club does not offer monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly subscriptions, new members who join the club after December 1st are eligible for pro-rata rates for the remainder of the membership year.
If I buy a boat from a member that is already stored in the yard, do I get to keep its storage spot?
No, boat storage spots are entirely non-transferable . If you purchase a craft that is currently stored at the club, you must submit your own application for boat storage, which will be subject to current availability and the club’s active use policies.
Do parents need to join the club if their child is taking sailing lessons?
It depends on the stage of your child’s sailing journey. Children participating in standard Sailing School programs (such as Tackers, Teens, and Green Adventure) use club-provided boats and do not require any club membership to participate. Under the club’s constitution, a Junior Membership must be accompanied by an Ordinary Membership held by a parent or guardian.
How long does the membership application take, and how do I access the facilities?
As a community club, all new membership applications are processed in accordance with the Club Constitution and must be formally approved by the Board of Directors, which can take up to six weeks.
Once approved, you can obtain a security access key from the clubhouse office for a $50 deposit to access the facilities.
